the guy is on death row and the only thing he can do about it is try and piss people off. giving this assh**es letter attention is exactly what he wants.
Probably because giving them something to occupy their time is seen as an alternative to having them doing nothing but thinking of ways to cause trouble.
If you're on death row like this guy there's no way to give him a worse sentence so he has nothing to lose if him and a couple of bored buddies decide to jump a guard, etc.
The cost of cable vs the cost of a riot, what looks better to you?
The real question is, why did this local newspaper publish his "open letter"? Does someone on their editorial staff think this serves the public interest?
If any of you Right Wingers want to get on welfare, get locked in jail/prison, or land on Death Row to take advantage of this "life of ease and leisure", may I be the first to wish you the best on your new adventure? If you want to stand at a freeway offramp all day with a "will work for" sign because you KNOW those guys make great money....please, dress warm and let us all know how well that scam works for you. My guess is you will go back to your "productive job creator" jobs or your trustfunds with a new perspective.
How many millionaires on death row? That's right...millionaires have never murdered anyone!
if you can't type liberal without laughing, you're contributing to the polarization of politics in the U.S. Why don't you go microwave a bagel and have sex with it?
Is this information, or is just some crazy looking for attention? Is the media obligated to print every rant that someone sends them?
If there is an actual story regarding his case, or the conditions in the prison, the media can always do there own story and collect their own information. This guy is just doing what he does; being a scum bag. The Gaston Gazette should know better than to get used by this guy.
The point of prison isn't to torture criminals, it's to keep these criminals safely locked up and away from the general public. What's so hard to understand about that? So they're not in constant agony, so what? That means they have less incentive to try to break out, and that's just fine by me. I've always said you need to look at it from a prison guard's perspective - would you, as a prison guard, want TV, something that keeps prisoners calm and sedated, taken away? I sure as hell wouldn't.
I just, I don't get what people want. The only function of prison is to keep these criminals powerless, and to keep them from us. If the methods they use work, why the f**k do you care whether the prisoners are comfortable or not? The criminal justice system isn't about revenge, nor should it be.
I believe many, if not most/all, corrections facilities monitor both incoming and outgoing mail. Perhaps theirs has a stricter policy that somehow prohibits profanity (I think I've heard of ones that also ban erotic renderings etc so it seems plausible to me).
If that were the case, it could indicate he is exaggerating how much he is actually enjoying himself - possibly because he is mad at those he feels put him there and wants to make them mad, too.

I would classify most of cable TV as cruel and unusual punishment.

Millionaires don't need to kill anyone, they have the U.S. Army and local police to do their dirty work for them.
batfishyJan 27, 2012Buried
crash - do you think millionaires cannot buy anything they want? Or pretty much anything?
Sure they can.
batfishyJan 27, 2012Buried
Liberal here, Crashdvis. I'm neither happy nor sad that this convicted criminal has the ability to "mock anyone he pleases". It is what it is.
Does this really have to be a liberal/conservative thing?
What's it like hating so many of your fellow Americans? And who taught you that it was ok?

You really want to drive over a bridge built/maintained by unwilling prisoners?

No - ignore him.
