Welcome to the New Digg v4, I hope you love our RSS Feed Spammer community from Reddit, Mashables, TechCrunch, engadget, readwriteweb and our Biggest Spammer Ever 'Leo Laporte'!
This is a Dream come true for our CEO and founder Kevin Rose, please leave him a comment of what you think of his brilliant idea!
ok, this isn't funny anymore. when can i get some real stuff on the front page. withdrawal is too much to handle now. *starting to shake* and reddit still sucks too.
Kevin the amount of people you have seen registering for accounts since v4 has gone live was probably due to lurkers who are finally making accounts to voice their outrage. This will go down as one of the larger web blunders of 2010.
That's pretty funny. How come none of your Digg submitted stories are hitting the front page? You have over 20k followers and plenty of people Digging your links but no FP...
These people feel that if it doesn't stop, then the whole thing is pointless. The digg community found a way to get their stuff to the front page. It just has to be through an auto feed, and reddit, diggs spiritual competitor, provides this feed. The new digg algorithm is actually what's bringing it to the front page, and Kevin is probably crying somewhere.
They can't, an old IT guy that used to work for the site said becuase of the nature of the rollout they cannot go back. They are in a terrible position, but you would think with such a major change to even the most basic tenants of your site they wouldn't go ahead without a backup plan. They're screwed. This will go down in history of one of the hugest fails to ever happen and what completely selling out can do to a website.
v3 was live when v4 beta was running parallel on a testing address.
If they didn't make backups of v3 before switching to v4 then what does that say about Digg? How can they not revert back to a version of the site that is only a week old? unless they just wrote over the old infrastructure in which I again ask, what does that say about Digg?
Frankly I think they just don't want to revert back, It would cost a lot of money and time to do so, plus a lot of info would get lost in the shuffle including all the user related comments and diggs between now and the v4 rollout.
You would think at the very least they would work on stabilizing the bugs in Digg4. Beyond just the flawed business plan of betraying your users I can't believe this was published late late week and this place is still a bug infested mess. Nothing works! I can click half the links around this site and get two different results from one click to the next. The stupid OX is on my screen so much I fear burn-in. Worst search engine ever! I have yet to be on the new site for more than 5 minutes without a string of failed page/profile loads.
If Kevin thinks this is going to impress sponsors, he's wrong again. Sponsors want reliable results. I wouldn't trust Kevin's tracking. It's probably as buggy as everything else right now.
If four days this place has cashed in all of it's street cred in the geek community. And what do they have to show for it?
I noticed philipz78 posted twice, seems to be the norm, I click on a digg and it doesn't take for 3-4 minutes so I click again, I figure philipz78 posted, it wasn't shown felt it didn't work and posted again. Very unresponsive system. Days ago I kept getting forbidden errors, now nothing shows.
As to the original question of another place to visit, while a personal thing; Drudge of http://www.drudgereport.com/ has a dad who has a very interesting web site http://www.refdesk.com/ if you can't find something worth reading... your not trying.
Then there is always www.Slashdot.org the site that started it all.

I for one, haven't been digging anything I like out of spite for thew new design. I did upvote this on reddit, so I helped in a backwards way.
