That trial he got was the biggest farce I've seen in recent times, how is it a fair trial when the prosecutors and the judges are members of the entertainment industry?

offering a better service, for free, then you get with the paid for product IS evolution.
the problem is many in the entertainment industry isn't evolving with it. they are fighting it every step of the way, trying to hold on to antiquated business models that no longer work in the digital age.
so instead they are trying to put the genie back in the bottle by trying to push through draconian copy right protection laws.

the entertainment industry can't offer their products for free, that's a given. but expecting them to offer AT LEAST the level of service and convenience of the free alternatives should be the very minimum we should expect from them.
but most just haven't stepped up to the plate.
In fact quit a few have done exactly the opposite: making the paid for product even worse with extra restrictions and annoying unskippable messages, or requiring a always-on connections to their servers (which aren't reliable half the time).
all of those make the free alternatives even more attractive.

its clear the entertainment industry need to evolve, or go extinct, and be replaced with others that will fill their niche.

It is evolution. The business is changing for the entertainment company and rather go with the change they create rules and fight it all along the way. People want content anywhere and with the recession that hit, they want it at a fair price. So yes people will sign up for streaming services. They want new movies sooner, so instead of waiting 3+ months they get it online.

If the entertainment companies stopped being so greedy and meet some of the peoples demand im sure they would see there revenue go up again.

They also need to realize piracy is not an issue, people don't want to fork out money unless they truly like what they are seeing. So they might go to a friends house to watch a movie or play a game first. Companies are the exact same way, look at how many cars and computers and smart phones and clothing lines are out there selling the exact items...which basically in itself is piracy

Stupid, newsgroups are still the best way to pirate s**t. Seeder IPs get logged and sued on bitorcrap. Newsgroups are more anonymous than a quark position.

Distributing other people's work is not evolution.

That is why the Pirate Bay people will spend at least a year in jail before all is said and done.
