The rights to privacy are just slipping away.

But you are NOT a felon if you work for the government and you arm mexican drug cartels with automatic weapons which are later used to murder US law enforcement personel. If you do that, you get a promotion!

You know... If they system's not broken... don't f***ing break it!

I swear to god if the United States passes this and Canada like always adopts(has it rammed down our throats) I'll have an aneurysm from the sheer amount of stupidity.

Now if offenders are called 'enemy combatants' the war on terror circle will be complete. A self sustaining military-industrial-complex complete with revolving targets of choice..

You don't have privacy in the sense you think. All day every email, text messages, phone calls, bank transactions, gps locations, ip addressees, sites visited, along with a host of other information is stored, in some cases forever. You don't have any privacy left to be eroded.

It's not privacy which is being eroded, it's your legal rights and your right to legal recourse that is being eroded.

The military tribunals and Guantanamo are waiting ... /s

This is not a law, this is unadulterated tyranny and it is everybody's DUTY to oppose it. What we should do, if we are already felons, is to start robbing banks, torch insurance agencies, etc. since we're already felons, in the government's crosshairs, and with the SWAT already deployed at our door.

Defund law enforcement - they are NOT your friends.

Reading articles like this has made me reconsider an urge to emigrate, and made me glad I don't live in the States. But how long before such ridiculous laws come the the UK I wonder. They're already on the horizon.

The only criminal activity here is the US Government!Nothing , not any action justifies government intrusion in privacy matters, it's the old bait and switch, just like the Patriot Act that affects innocent Americans more than terrorists! Remember the subversive rant of Emanual, "never let a crisis go to waste" !

...while we're at it, let's get the fed to print more money to pay for it. Then tax the little people out of existence. If they can't pay, use this law to get 'em. /s

More to the point, make them felons if they express dissent against the government and unknowingly violate the terms of a given site in doing so.

This is a very subtle way to silence speech.

How long will it be before the US government requires all websites to include an anti-terrorism clause in their ToS such that ANY talk about "bringing down the US government" would then be a violation of those ToS, and now with this new law, a felony as well.

The main reason I don't give real info on the net is because I don't want follow up calls from sales guys... just imagine a sleazy sales guy saying 'what's your address? and remember, it's a felony to lie...'

It is much much worse than that. ALL your emails are scanned real-timish - it happens in the UK in Peterborough (google Echelon) and I am pretty sure the USA has a sister project - it has been running for at least 10 years

Online sarcasm is Generation Y method of social change. It does not work, but provides a sense of smug satisfaction.
