Although I do not condone piracy, I have to say to say that the MPAA and their ilk treat all their customers as criminals by making it so hard to legitimately use your files, because it is too stupid to adapt its business model to the modern world. Sometimes this leaves you with no choice but to get a copy from an 'alternative source'. This rebellion is an awesome turn of events, and I hope this attack continues for days, if not months. Adapt or die MPAA.
It changes exactly as much as the MPAA and Aiplex shutting down the Pirate Bay does. Pretty much nothing.
They're sending a message. It doesn't have to have any real, serious consequences to be a success. They're on the front page of Digg. Word has gotten out. That's a win in their view. What's more important is that ONE GUY shut down Aiplex. To have the website of a company of what are essentially black hats working as mercs for the MPAA shut down by one guy, well, that sends a message too.
Disagreed. This is a non-violent demonstration. It is a sit-in or not moving to the back of the bus. The motivations are not as lofty as racial equality, but it is the new disparity: one of money and power taking more from those that have less.
I believe 4chan is the voice of the people these days. They are many individuals standing up against the inequalities instituted by a government largely funded by corporations/organizations like the MPAA. You are witnessing the modern day peaceful demonstration.

It took only 8 minutes for Anonymous to bring MPAA.org to a screeching halt!

So this is how the "f**k the MPAA" is done. I like it!

Too bad bringing down the MPAA's website has not real business effect for them.. Its not like they sell anything there..
Now their email server... mail.messaging.microsoft.com... That may be useful. (Via MX Lookup.)

It's not like this is going to cause the MPAA to disband.

Martin Luther King didn't cause the south to disband, either.

In this story, there are no winners. The MPAA are extra losers, though.

Too much collateral damage.

It would be nice to one day, not have to repurchase every piece of media we own, because of a deprecated format it was recorded on.
