'The moves were described as an "abuse of power" by one of the highest-profile supporters of the anti-piracy bills.
"It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information," Mr Dodd said in a statement, calling the actions taken by the high-profile websites "yet another gimmick". '
It needs to collapse more and DIE. We the people, need to take these people out of office for reasons of idiocy. Kill the power to your house and cellphones for a day. Anyone? Is that what the people want?
Is that the desired future? Not mine. I didn't come here to be free, I was born here because someone thought I would be free here.
Of course all of them are only running for the exits because they saw organized opposition. I've more respect for the ones that didn't allow themselves to be bought in the first place.
I think this is the first time I can say I am excited about something Orrin Hatch has done or said. He is still an idiot for co-sponsoring it, and probably only did so he could keep his office, but whatever he is trying to fix his mistake.
Given Dodd's previous career one might have expected him to value an open internet, no censorship, free speech. He is now actually promoting the Chinese style censorship of web sites. It also shows this being bought by corporate interests as being a bipartisan problem.
Has there been any "official" word from anyone at Digg why they did not participate in today's activities? Or was it it strictly because of Reddit's involvement?
I found myself picturing digg's offices. The rank and file saying "dude, we have to have a blackout period" and the manager somewhere saying "I'd like to, but web addicts will use digg instead for one day... we must stay online so they will come".

WHAT?!? republicans actually listened to what the people that voted them in actually wanted for a change?!?!
that wont sit well with the party as a whole. thats not a precedent they want to be setting during an election season (or non-election season)

Repulicans on the correct side of an issue? I must be in some sort of alterate reality...
charlotte_webJan 19, 2012Buried

Why not get rid of every scumbag that supports it?
Why did you only list nine?
particleman420Jan 19, 2012Buried

Keep a record of legislators from your district that supported it. Vote them out, regardless of party, next election.
No forgiveness.

Of course I have no idea but it sounds possible.
