As a fan, I like it when my team (Red Sox) go after free agents. Hey, it's not my money, and the owners are very wealthy. Sure, a John Lackey has flamed out, but I'm betting Carl Crawford will have a bounce-back year.

And I hope the Nationals get Tubby Fielder to play first base. That would make for an exciting team that would give the Phillies fits, which is fine by me, since I'm sick of them.

It's not just baseball that has free agent busts every year. It happens throughout the world of sports. Trust me I'm a Washington Redskins, Wizards, Nationals, and Capitals fan. I see it up close!

I'd like to see them get Fielder, but I think the Jayson Werth contract was one of the worst signings in sports history. I'm speaking in terms of his production being nowhere close to the money the Nationals are paying. Werth is a decent MLB player, but not even close to being a franchise type of player!
