Hey! I'm going to Taiyuan, Shanzi this coming Monday! The city I am in is pretty damn polluted too, but what you rarely see (outside of Chinese greenpeace) are the ordinary citizens pissed off this is happening to their country. Its sad because they know they cant do anything about it.
Rapid development will lead to a market crash. Their housing market is way more out of control than the USA's was in 2006-2007 pre-crisis.
No you don't, the only thing the dispersal agents that were pumped into the sea to clean up the spill have done is reduce the visible presence of oil in the water while making the oil able to penetrate the cell walls of marine wildlife. Not very impressive when you consider the amount of resources the US has to available to contain the spill, whereas China is a developing nation where a portion of its population still go hungry.
If you were to compare the environmental standards of the US perhaps 60 years ago when both countries were at the same level economically then you would reach a much different conclusion.

You've been watching too much Fox News and Nancy Grace.
Reporters are there to report. Not sensationalize with their righteous outrage.

If you want to make a difference, skip that trip to Walmart and shop responsibly.

Was I the only one who was nervous to breathe while watching this film? Just watching it made my lungs hurt

When I have an axe murderer living on my street, I tend to worry about them before I hassle with the guy who plays his music too loud.

The difference is that we are taking extraordinary actions to clean up the gulf.
You may hate the industry, but you've got to admire the efforts of damage control and cleanup efforts they are doing here.

Nice to see someone is doing more than their own share to add to pollution.
