The real, and rather unsexy reason, is that the muslim church is able and wiling to pay for it, but has had political problems getting the required permits, while the Greek Orthodox Church hasn't committed/raised the financial resources to get it built.
"How many Americans do you know willing to bust their asses off in 110 degree weather for $7 an hour?"
Not many, particularly when our esteemed leaders deem it compassionate to hand out unemployment benefits for TWO f**king years.
But there was a time when most Americans were willing to work and to take whatever job was necessary in the short term to better themselves and make ends meet.
As (Democrat) Governor Ed Rendell famously quipped last year, we have become a nation of pussies.
The ground zero mosque is brought up a lot, but no one addresses the issue of restoring the Greek Orthodox Church that was buried in the rubble. Every attempt at rebuilding has been stalled and halted with no explanation at all. Construction has never started. Why is it that a mosque has preferential treatment over a christian church?
More than once people from the Greek Church have spoken on the radio stating they have had the funding ready, and it is not government funding by the way. They pay the permit fees and permits are not granted. They pay planning commission fees and the plans are not approved.
They get no press because the liberal media will not publish thier story. The mosque is a greater issue for the media.
You need to look up the definition of isolationism because Ron Paul is not an isolationist. Paul believes in non-interventionism which is only one component of isolationism.
"Isolationism is separating yourself or a country from everything.
Non-interventionism – Political rulers should avoid entangling alliances with other nations and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial differences (self-defense).
Protectionism – There should be legal barriers to control trade and cultural exchange with people in other states."
Paul is absolutely opposed to protectionism, it is the antithesis of free market economics. Whenever I hear somebody describe Paul as an isolationist I immediately write them off because it is proof positive they are using terms they know jack s**t about.
Yeah, you're not "playing that game" because you know that if you do, it'll be revealed that you're full of s**t.
The "muslim church" (duh) project is headed by developer Park51. They need to raise about $100 million to build the facility, and have only raised about $70k so far.
The whole notion that these tens of millions of Mexicans are here doing farm work is totally unfounded.
They're working in restaurants and doing lots of construction work. Both areas that Americans have always worked at. So come up with a new excuse.
Construction work, for example, used to pay very well. Until illegals pushed out Americans. I know two middle aged American men who supported families doing handyman work and house painting. Until illegals undercut them.
I'm not for a country that must intervene at every nose that is blown around the world. However, I don't see a persons belief in evolution has do with having the ability to run the country. I know both dumb and intelligent people who don't believe or have problems with some parts of the Theory of Evolution. It doesn't make them a lesser person.
That whole chances-of-killed-by-terrorist argument has a fatal flaw:
The lightning doesn't actively WANT to kill me.
Terrorists do. They plot and plan and scheme to do more. When the Islamic terrorists can sneak a nuke into the USA, do you think they'll hold back out of kindness?
Juan Williams is a "coward." Really.
Hey, remember when Jesse Jackson admitted when he heard footsteps behind him in the dark he was relieved if it was a white person. Was he a "coward." too? Or street smart?
2011.10.23 (Cabengbeng, Philippines) - Five Catholic plantation workers are massacred by Moro Islamists in a pre-dawn attack on their village.
How about these Catholic plantation workers?
Were they big cowards as well?

I like Ron Paul. I agree with 90% of what he says, but the other 10% is a tough pill to swallow.

We really need someone who DOESN'T want to be president.

My bigot detector is going off the charts.

Because if we don't allow a mosque to be built it allows people to call us prejudice, and it also allows more people to protest s**t.
