That's why they lied us into the war. They'll make a lot from the oil, but the blood is pretty profitable too.
And the nice thing for them... the suits getting the big checks never even have to pick up a weapon. (Except to shoot eachother's faces while duck hunting.)
And then they'll buy treasury bonds, making money off the debt we accrued paying them for the wars they started to get the oil that they'll sell back to us.
Except both are illegal engagements under false pretenses. That and it COSTS money so its like a deficit that kills freedom fighters that our government trained but who are no longer useful to our current regime. Oh and lets not forget the only company that benefited financially from any of it is Haliburton which owns Blackwater, so it was a massive setup to defraud americans out of countless billions.
IOUSA only covers the budgetary expenses of the military which accounts for a little more than half of the total expenditure.
Take the military appropriations bills for example. There have probably been around three to four passed annually since 2002 to ensure funding for the wars in the Middle East and they account for hundreds of billions of non-budgetary expenses.
You are certainly right that social programs are bankrupting the nation, but so is "defense" (read offense) spending.
It would be cheaper to employ every single afghani person in a high paying job in the defense industry. The job could be to surf 8 hours a day, and write a report on every single page visited. With money and job security nobody would have time to fight in the mountains. Cheaper solution than an endless war.
Nope. It's all about power. That's what it always boils down to. Religion has ALWAYS been used as an excuse to do things people know are wrong. they find some way to convince themselves their "god" some how supports these actions and go forward.
l2read, theres no claims of spending stimulus being illegal. The two foreign ENGAGEMENTS (that's political speech for war) are, one being under the guise of attacking "terrorists" which are agents we trained and are now abandoning for political reasons. The other for claims of WMD which of course were never found. Both were unjustified illegal wars. The only company who turned a profit in this entire period is Haliburton, do you think it a coincidence?

Spending millions to kill a person overseas, crying about spending thousands to keep a family fed in the US.
Our government, hard at work.
novenatorDec 6, 2010Buried
Fiscal irresponsibility is an understatement.
sexyteenagerDec 6, 2010Buried
Just another good reason to end this absurd war.

You know, I've been waiting for an answer to this question for about a decade now. From what I can tell, the hijackers on 9/11 all died on impact.
rmxzDec 6, 2010Buried
And that's not even the worst part.
The worst part is we're spending millions of dollars to kill hundreds of innocent bystanders along with every terrorist.

Now here's something we agree on.

Indeed. That's a hell of a lot of money.

Who are we at war with?
linuxpersonDec 6, 2010Buried
Fiscal irresponsibility that both parties seem to be in favor of mind you.
caramba421Dec 6, 2010Buried
It isn't a war. We haven't been involved in a real war since WWII. There is nobody to directly engage. It is an occupation.
helloimtomDec 6, 2010Buried
Eurasia. We have always been at war with eurasia.

So the remainder are the civilian deaths? What about he missing limbs? Rounding error?
I agree that it is wasting money but more important is it wasting lives of our military and those of other countries.
arschgaudiDec 6, 2010Buried
Serbia is hardly a comparative, it was essentially a civil war with the UN invovled in peace keeping operations.
