back in the 70s and 80s having seen my mother get the s**t beat out of her by my "father" on several occasions to with in inches of her life, and then f**king useless good old boy cop club never did a f**king thing. he never even spent the night in jail!
I was unable to digg the first comment with which I so agree, so here goes again. Not only women should be all over this, but intelligent, fair-minded men and kids should be too. Domestic violence and sexual assaults are crimes and sins. They both should be reported to the police and recorded, with no "loss" of their reports or efforts, plus the police should take court action against the abusers.
Republicans don't like any federal lvl protection laws because it stops the hundreds of thousands of local hometown 'police' they get special treatment from.

i can sympathize with you, having a false restraining order put on me, after i found out she was cheating on me, and having seen what happened to my mother i would NEVER harm a woman EVER! it sucks bro, the misuse of our justice system

* Women who are illegal immigrants ought to be left to suffer, because they aren't our problem.
VAWA exists to ensure that consistent and appropriate action is taken to reduce violence against women in our country. Gay women, transgender women, and women who are illegal immigrants are among those who have been chronically underserved by the systems we have in place.
If the Republicans who were opposed are genuinely interested in meeting the needs of all women, then they should propose an alternative that actually does that, rather than ignoring the realities of violence against women in America.
Yup. Even if liebe's story is true, it might have taken that year of him being gone for his wife to get up the courage to go through with this. Thinking of walking away from a marriage with kids is damned scary.
