1) Entitlement mentality
2) Excessive government spending
3) Government regulations
4) Citizens needlessly going into personal debt.
5) Lack of education reform
I am not normally an alarmist, but the price of food in the short term does concern me. Between the tornadoes, a heavy rain season, and the flooding across the US, there is a lot of our crop that has not been able to be planted this year.
"I would like to think that Wall Street understood that McCain is an idiot, especially when it came to the economy, and clearly understood that there was no way we were going to come out of the financial crisis with him in charge."
If you think that's how this s**t works you're even more naive than I thought.
inflation - food and gas prices continue to go up. obviously you hane not been shopping for essentials lately.
House Prices - FYI the bubble popped, the housing prices were over inflated and had to come down, but unfortunately all our debt was tied to their over inflated prices. But banks got bailed out for their recklessness
how daft are you. Apparently the Obama administration hasn't learned as they already put in place the infrastructure for the next economic crisis..well this is pretty good news I guess. No longer credit default swaps insured by AIG and the like the Government will be on the hook now.
The New “Subprime” Loans Now Government Insured
So apparently the subprime mortgage crisis did not teach us much about the mortgage products we originate. FHA loans have replaced the subprime loans that caused the financial crisis and economic recession, and it is my opinion that they are not much better. FHA loans are loans that banks can issue and that the government will 100% insure so long as they qualify under FHA guidelines (which don’t seem to be to strict). So lets compare:
Unemployment - Ah yes, this one is awesome. If you believe that cutting taxes and cutting costs is magically going to spur hiring and increase productivity, then you live in a fantasy land.
ah yes, a trillion dollar stimulus certainly stimulated the economy didn't it. I drive around the streets of my neighborhood and all I see is a veritable flood of "help wanted" signs everywhere I look. So many jobs to be had that when McDonalds opened up positions for 65,000 new employees over 1,000,000 people applied. The success of the stimulus is astounding.
On the other hand if you are a researcher interested in pot smoking menstruating monkeys, or coke sniffing monkeys you were one of the fortunate ones
Why did we spend $3.6 Million studying Pot Smoking, Menstruating Monkeys?
"The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a division of the federal government’s National Institutes of Health (NIH), has spent $3,634,807 over the past decade funding research that involves getting monkeys to smoke and drink drugs such as PCP, methamphetamine (METH), heroin, and cocaine and then studying their behavior, including during different phases of the female monkeys’ menstrual cycles."
Europe's debt crisis - Is self fulfilling based on their short minded austerity approach .......hog wash. they have spent themselves into oblivion these past 55 years with their government socialized programs.
The American economy has been so busy recently with wars, politics, and an overwhelming media presence. Its time we start to flash back and begin to pick up our middle class again. The bottom of the broom is where the economy is not supposed to start. The real power starts here at home on U.S. Shores and committed allies.
if the histrionic minority would get with the program that the rest of the country wants enacted it will be brought under control without all the social engineering by the right wing.
there was a referendum on that 6 months ago
Right Direction or Wrong Track
26% Say U.S. Heading in Right Direction
You consistently defend corporatist shills in the Democratic party while I, on the other hand, consistently attack Democrats and Republicans.
So tell me, how exactly am I a partisan tool? Also, could you perhaps post a few comments of mine where I was shilling for a particular political party?
Umm...actually the biggest threat to the US economy is the removal of the Dollar as the world's reserve currency. However, with Greece not fairing to well, the Euro might be out as well since it's so volitile. The Yen got screwed this past year with the earthquake. Only option is probably the Yuan or the Pound Sterling (which GB had until it got into financial woes in the 70s)
I think if we lose this privilege the economy will be screwed
Space Alien attacks aside, the US probably does lead in obesity. However, much of our food is sold to other countries -- so it isn't just about us. A shortage of new crops in the US will have global consequences.
Okay, resume being a space alien alarmist. Just don't call me a space alien denier. I am agnostic on the issue.

The fact that Wall St. gave more money to Obama than McCain last election cycle notwithstanding, huh?

What a complete partisan tool you are. The evil rich bankers support both Democrats and Republicans.
Why do you think Democrats wrote, sponsored, and majority favored (like the Republicans) the banker bailout?

the dollar will be dropped if the value continues to plummet. why is it plummeting? ask Bernanke and the Fed.
make the US dollar worth as much as gold (hence return to a gold standard) and we wouldn't be having nearly the amount of problems we are today.
