Clearly never been in the military.

I agree and have been as well. I don't think it should be a don't ask, don't tell thing. You are there to see your fellow soldiers survive. What they do on their own time or how they live has no bearing on whether or not they will help you. It should be a matter of not caring and respecting who your team/fireteam partner is.

They should keep their religion for themselves as well. And their skin color. And their height, while we are at it.

I agree, but the fact is the policy was used to oust people if they slipped up. They even abused the policy to investigate the suspicion, and then oust them: all it took was an anonymous tip from someone outside that hated you. So opposition to the policy is based on those facts. It's not so people can go around flaunting it. Just so they don't have to live in fear of getting kicked out if it's found out.

DADT was a compromise. Republicans wanted an all out ban on gays. Clinton and the Democrats were able to compromise with the Republicans with DADT so gays could still serve in the military as long as they kept it a secret.

If you want to blame anyone for this mess, blame Republicans.

I respectfully disagree. I have no faith that the government will hold to its word to repeal DADT.

It was temporarily reinstated so that they'd have more time to dismantle it. It's still going to be done away with... thus "Temporarily."

Ain't that the truth.... But keep up with the religion, that's o.k.
Not once, while serving int he military, was I approached by a "gay soldier" inappropriately, they did their job and saved lives.. At least they had the balls to join the military and not go and hide, or sit on the sidelines and judge...I call Bulls**t...

Why? "Don't ask, don't tell" is just mean. if straight people can talk about their husbands and wives, then gay people should be allowed to say that they're gay. America shouldn't be so homophobic

It was a blanket comment, not meant towards you. Sorry, I should have clarified it.
