"Some people have pointed out that the black guy seen leaving the room was a plant, which may actually be the case. He looks similar to the sound technician featured in the video, but the performance video is too far and of too poor quality to judge. Either way, that's some mighty fine trolling."
Forgetting the rest of this story, I always wonder what's in the head of “the token black guy” in these things.
I remember seeing an episode of the Sopranos where Tony was trying to break out into “the urban biz crowd,” and they (the biz crowd) were complete goobers.
It's like things haven't changed a bit since back in the day when rock was a “Dirty black thing” until white people started doing it. In fact, looking at these fools (the “rappers”), it's just gone downhill.
Well, I looked at there video. One of them is wearing knickers and points at his pants when he says "knickers", so it looks like they are right. They didn't drop any "N" word at all.
What's even more embarrassing is the authors sensitivity dance around the word gentlemen.
"With the "er" ending." Omg shock and awe. That word actually exists.
substituting it for gentlemen, and admitting it in the lyrics. If this is what passes as "funny" for right wing Republicans, you can see why the party is dying. There is a reason the ONLY black man in the room walked out. Their intentions were obvious.
Setting aside that the song itself is pretty bizarre, and the whole karaoke thing was god-awful - The author of the article, and the poster here on Digg, were dumb.
Heck, the article even posts to the actual video, which shows them saying knickers, includes the mock outrage, and when you watch the video, it is obvious they are purposefully telling the sound guy that they wouldn't say that.
The one thing missing from the karaoke version, is that the sound guy actually gives them a thumbs up in the video, where the sound guy just gets up and leaves at the conference.
About the only thing to get upset about in that exchange is not doing it the same way.
Personally, I was more scarred for life by the karaoke thing itself, and them trying to get the audience members to wave their arms in the air at one point, 3/4ths of the people sitting there had no clue what to do.
I'm generally ok with most Republicans, but everything I've seen at CPAC disgusts me. Do the Republicans really support these ideals? I know Ann Coulter is a joke and a reprehensible human being, and I generally do my best to ignore Sarah Palin, but this video really just takes it over the line.
I really hope the Republicans distance themselves from this. I get that they want to appeal to hardcore conservatives, but they're alienating moderates who're still trying to decide who they like in the next election (like me).

sounded like "blah people" to me.

They said knickers KNOWINGLY substituting it for gentlemen. Read the lyrics. They even try to joke it off. "What? Us?"
Defending this s**t is the reason the Republican party is dying.

Read the lyrics. The substituted knickers for the gentlemen on purpose. There is a reason the one black man in the room walked out.

Here is the link at the time in question (so you don't have to listen to the whole thing). Pretty obvious that they say "knickers".

xwhyFeb 11, 2012Buried
Dropped the KN word, you mean.
wabbitseasonFeb 12, 2012Buried
You don't get to say that word! Only us limeys are allowed to say that word!
kingnovaFeb 12, 2012Buried
Yeah but right now you’re high, ain’t you big hitter
But I’m back from the dead now bringing back all my knickers
Man you think I’d say that, come on what’s wrong with you
I’m just talking about my short pants that tuck into my shoe
Yeah, right. They weren't purposely doing a play on the word gentlemen.

Yeah, like singers take orders from sound technicians all over the world. Everyone knows that, sure.
Producers, composers, writers, managers -- just stage dressing and props.
The sound techs control it all.
/facepalm
