ALL of the Bush tax cuts should expire. We have a deficit problem, and social programs have already been cut to the bone. Raise taxes on the rich, slash military spending, boom...deficit solved.
Tax cuts for the rich, unlimited corporate spending on political campaigns, and even proposed corporate tax cuts. Add to it a rabid mob of teabaggers supporting all of the above, and it's not hard to see America is already f**ked.
Tax the rich and cut military spending, wow Nov, you're one hell of a Marxist, Communist, Socialist aren't you. I think most would agree that if anything, the US army doesn't have a big enough budget and the rich should have further tax breaks so they would have more money to create more jobs and pump more money in the economy. Trickle down economics and all that jazz.
The tax rates of the 90s were absolute hell I tell you!
Till our savior Bush came in and cut taxes allowing businesses and job growth to prosper on into 2008, things were looking precarious there.
Thank God for the conservative tax cuts. Where would America be had the supply-side victory of last decade not secured this country's economy for decade's to come hence forth!

A conservative argued that "poor people don't create jobs, rich people do". So I as those on the right "Where are the JOBS?" Ten years of Bush tax cuts and where are the jobs?
That's all fine and dandy, but the free market will never reign when corporatists keep changing the rules to suit them.
Corporatism is a form of interference and regulation as well. You can't naturally correct corporatism or we would have done it already. This book you've referenced is SIXTY YEARS OLD and we've waited long enough.
The premise is flawed because we live in a hybrid system of economic theories.
I love the free market enough to admit it's failures. Corporatism is the cancer that is killing /free/ market.
Noooo, don't let the tax cuts expire or raise taxes, the trickle down effect will take effect any moment now.... Then everyone will be rich and the poor can thank the rich for helping them.
If that doesn't happen then its simply the poor peoples fault for being lazy. Its not like the rich are paying the poor, poverty wages or anything.
For those making the argument that tax cuts do not equate to "cutting checks", do you not agree that taxing is a fundamental mechanism for creating and maintaining public services in our society? Paying taxes is a responsibility, not a gift. Tax cuts ARE essentially diverting money from the public pool and giving it to, in this example, the filthy rich.
The Democrats should have already said they would let them expire, then introduce a new tax plan. A lot of Americans are for a new way of taxing people. The Republicans would have to either go on record screwing the public or dare to block legislation that is a friggin' tax cut.
I can't believe they didn't play it already against the GOP. What are they gonna do? "Obama's gonna raise your taxes, even though it's our fault because it's our tax cut expiring and we didn't make it permanent and now we won't let him pass new tax cuts."

I consider it an honor to provide the tax revenue that supports these true American Patriots. God bless the fabulously rich!

The rich are better than we are.
They gained their wealth because they are our moral, ethical, and intellectual superiors.
They are better than us in every way.
They even floss more.

Of course republican politicians want these tax cuts desperately. Most of them are part of that richest 1% that would be getting the benefit.

That sounds like an election slogan.
