its even WORSE than this. with SOPA/PIPA the FBI is not even really in the equation the ones controlling ACCESS "ARE" universal etc.. with the full weight and authority of the FBI to back them up.
It's money that makes it work, if we didn't have an addiction to movies and music that they control they wouldn't be able to call the shots in DC. DC (for sale or lease) will kiss the butt of the highest bidder. And that goes for other things as well.
Someone steals from you, you no longer have the objects that were stolen.
That is not the case with piracy.
Additionally, Megaupload hosts files, users upload those files. The copyright infringement is enacted by the user, not Megaupload, so why is Megaupload being taken down. It's like shutting down an entire mall because one store was found to have someone that was laundering money.
Even more than that, if you think Universal gives a flying f**k about piracy, or money, or profits lost from pirating, you're wrong and naive. This is not about profits, this is about control.
They use a business model that is quickly becoming outdated by surges of technological advancement, largely due to the internet and its culture.
This is about stifling that advancement to keep their business model from becoming obsolete. They want to control the market and continue to do so, by any means necessary, even if it means lying through their teeth about their stance on copyright and calling the government whose pockets they line with cash to sick their law enforcement agencies on their competitors.
not unlimited bludgons to stifle innovation and prosperity.
You have no idea how much it gals me that the largest DESTROYER of the public domain and reasonable copyright (Disney) was "FOUNDED" on work taken from the public domain (Steam Boat Willey you now know him as Mickey Mouse)
I think most everyone understands & wants a reasonable copyright & anti-piracy policy, but a longer jail sentence for pirating a Michael Jackson song than the one issued for killing Michael Jackson--without the benefit of due process, no less--is absurd.
Sounds like you tried to download some stuff yourself and did not know what you were doing - and got hit by a virus.

I have to agree with neondistraction... that was a real weak attempt at trolling.
Please come back when you can at least troll at a level that has some hope of succeeding.
