In some countries the directions are very similar to this.. "you may be told to continue 200 meters on this road until you see the Post Office, turn left, then another 50 meters and the bus ticket agent is in a yellow building on the right side of the street." It was fun getting around there..sometimes landmarks are trees or rocks... Fun.. http://www.costaricaroadmaps.com/driving-directions.html
Yeah, my wife is from Nicaragua and in Managua all the directions are based on monuments, schools, and North/South (but not really North/South - only N/S in reference to Lake Managua).
Unfortunately the person she gave directions to will never make it to her house because one crucial bit of information was left out. She forgot to tell him to take a right where the old school house used to be.

I'd give the same confusing directions If I was 10 and a strange man recording me with his camera asked me where I lived.

Google Maps should give directions like these on April fool's Day. That would be hilarious!

Good thing it wasn't much further. She was on tip-toes by the time she finished giving directions as it was!

I take it this counts as "hilarious" to people who have never lived in rural communities.

I grew up in a rural community, but our roads still had names.
