Didn't you hear? All violent crime, everywhere, has been stamped out, forever. Now we need more ridiculous laws so the police have something to do when they aren't sitting in speed traps.
Legislating "pet peeves" is a slippery slope.
A lot of people hate Crocs, Hipsters, yoga pants on anything less than an 8, and people who talk on cell phones in public. Not sure if they should be FINED or put into the system for those kinds of things though.
Rape-Murder-Grand Larceny.....these are things we need (?) cops for.....spitting on the street is nowhere near that list.

Local Bye-Laws banning spitting used to be common in the 40's. because sputum can transmit T.B. very easily. Not that we have a T.B. problem anymore?

I've never understood what compels people to spit all the time like that. Unless it's tobacco, then it's just littering.
The fines are over the top, though. £80 ($125) for spitting, really? It should be more like a tenner.
