Child obesity should be considered child abuse and subject to criminal prosecution. There's zero excuse for letting your kid be fat. And no boys and girls, the genetics argument does not apply here. Significantly fewer people actually have "fat genes" than society would like you to believe. Fat kids = poor diet and lack of exercise. It's really that simple.

Holy mother of chicken fried bacon. She should be on a gurney, not stuffed into a stroller.

This photo is really sad actually. This is obviously a mother who refuses to (or can't) say "no" to her child. This girl will have a lifetime of problems, emotionally, socially and physically, as a result of her MOTHER'S poor choices and inability to parent.

Oh!!! I see!!! So it's genes why that girl is such a tub? Really? Seriously?

You don't think it has anything to do with the fact that she doesn't get any exercise like her tubby mom?

Riiiiigggghhhhttt!!!

"actually, the majority of people have fat genes"

No, most people will not get fat eating normally. They get fat because they eat more calories than they expend in their daily activities.

The mother should be reported to CPS.

maybe the mother is just trying to get exercise by pushing her fat child about in the stroller?
also, "Fatty fatty two-by-four, can't fit thru the kitchen door."

Looks like stroller abuse to me. I'm amazed those plastic wheels are holding up, and I really mean that.

As an new father and overweight, I don't want my child to fall into this category. If anything it inspires me to try to better myself. Fighting the bulge takes good decisions and will power, and that extends to the child that is depending on you. It is your responsibility to give your kid the best chance at success, and I find it sad to see just the opposite happening.

actually, the majority of people have fat genes. the fat gene can be traced back to our cave man days when we used to have to work hard to hunt and gather every single meal. we might of ended up burning just as much or more calories than the meal we hunted. the human body adapted by storing as much of that energy as possible rather than discarding excess energy. these are the people that survived droughts. the skinny people of today with high metabolism and skinny no matter what they eat wouldn't have survived long because they do not store as much energy, they would have been an evolutionary dead end.

couple that with the demands of society today, and you end up with some fat people. people rarely get enough exercise from working, even if it tires them out, and working is what people do most in this country. our genetic code is still in cave man mode where it thinks we might not know where our next meal is coming from. so I wouldn't exactly place the blame on the individual, but rather modern society clashing with ancient genes.

you have people that work jobs sitting behind a desk for 10 or more hours a day...and you expect them to be skinny? how do you expect people to get exercise when they're spending 3/4ths of their day working or sleeping (10 hours work + 8 hours sleep).

don't forget we sleep 1/3rd of our lives away. after work and sleep, we're technically only left with 25% of our time on this earth to ourselves...and that doesn't even subtract the time we're spent doing other things like chores and things for others rather that what ever we want. at age 60, you've been conscious for only 40 of those years, and you've only been doing something other than working or sleeping for 15 of those years.

30 minutes of exercise a day is all it takes. Really.

Yes, but if she has a medical disorder then it probably isn't safe for her to eat ice cream, so regardless her parents are to blame even if it is only to a small extent.

I was THE fat kid in school growing up and let me tell you it freggin blows. This crap is depressing as all hell. As unlikely as it might be I really hope down the road she'll get into shape and break the cycle.
