Yes, at one time it actually had open, natural land, and wasn't a concrete jungle. You've seen one picture of Manhattan-the-city, you've seen them all, but I thought this was really unique.
Its sweet how these photos give a better illusion of depth than the slick digital cameras of today. Cameras now deliver everything (subject, middle ground, background) in such high detail, while your eye can only see a small part of it's field of vision in high detail. Without the perfect lens, modern cameras don't really replicate the experience of 'seeing' very well. Everyone is so obsessed with mega pixels and astonishing detail that they forget about all the other awesome things you can do with a camera.
"The New York City is one of the most popular city in United States, officially named the City of New York, and the most densely populated major city in North America."
Thanks. I had never heard of this "New York City" before, and would have been lost without your helpful explanation.
Sometimes I feel like I was supposed to have been born 90 years ago. Everything about this city back then infatuates me. What I wouldn't give to experience the Roaring 20's in Manahattan...

I love NYC.
They don't make architecture like that anymore.

I don't think these should be called as hilarious, that was just how things were then.

I'm not even sure what is supposed to be hilarious with any of these... or even moderately funny.

I saw this picture not long ago, and it really blew my mind... Manhattan, 1848:

It is amazing how much the word has changed in the last 100 years. I was also surprised to see how many skyscrapers there were in 1931.
