Wow, the number of people incarcerated for drug offenses increased over 1000% percent in a 26 year period? Not good.

The drugs don't even fight back...

Did anyone really expect to "win" it?

It's a disaster from start to (I hope) finish.

And they wonder why our prisons/jails are full? I can see why for some drugs, but not all drugs.

Same reason they lost the war on Alcohol in the 1920-1933, people want it, they will get it. Best thing to do is tax and make money off of it instead.

Global value of illegal drugs: 321 billion...
...if those drugs were regulated/need to see doctor for a prescription the value would drop to 3 billions... probably less... because Mary grows fast and easy... but ain't patentable such a pity.

So when are the going to start locking up all the doctors who are over-prescribing pain killers, anti-depressants, ADD drugs, etc.? Prescription drug abuse is a HUGE problem and yet no one talks about it.

Losing? It was lost before it started.

Had to dig you down. You can brew beer and distil alcohol now for your own use. This should be the same way for growing pot for your own use. However, if you begin selling it you should pay your sales and income taxes what ever they may be.

Secondly, anything and everything you can buy at a store can be made. So

Only reason I said Tax it and make money off of it, is because people will buy it and we need all the help we can get with this national debt. Not saying this will fix it, but it could help a small margin.

I understand where you're coming from, but I had to bury you. The government doesn't belong telling anyone you can't grow a NATURAL f**king plant that has been here for much longer than these pathetic politicians have. It's a shame that the citizens of America stand around idle while the government has free reign over everything.

Maybe one day people will wake up, but it might be too late by then.

Actually more than a small margin. Just the savings in prison space will make a pretty big difference. Add tax, reduction in police force, closing the DEA (mostly) etc. just adds more.

We're losing because we aren't willing to comitt to the atrocities and civil liberty violations it would take to win. Which is the second of two reasons why we shouldn't have made it illegal (the first being the Constitution grants Congress no authority to do it in the first place).

Tens of thousands of deaths have occurred due to the proliferation of illegal US guns being used by Mexican drug cartels.

Also the US is orchestrating the drug cultivation and transportation of heroine from Afghanistan into Eastern Europe. It is producing hundreds of millions of dollars for the criminal offshore mega-BANKS.
