I'm from (and currently live in) the Midwest, but I was able to get out to California and try In-N-Out last year. My buddy insisted the burger would be the best I'd ever eaten, which was not the case. The burger was very tasty, for sure, but what really made In-N-Out stand out for me was the fries. The fries were fresh, not greasy, and they were delicious.
That's not a bad price for all that! All 22 patties in the 11 "flying dutchman" only came to $22. The rootbeer float was only $1.95? A decent-looking size order of fries for only $1.35? Damn. The only quality burger place here in SW Florida is Five Guys, where a comparable order would have been over $100 - probably way over.
It's not fair, the west coast gets all the good stuff!
The burgers are sadly a little small. I would give them a comparison size to a McDonalds burger. Not the taste, just size except they have tomato and lettuce on them. The patties aren't that big. But still, good as hell. I usually get 2 burgers, fries and a drink for about $6
Well, still cheap for a good burger. When I go to Five Guys here in Florida, which is the only good burger place, I get a regular cheeseburger (two patties), large fries, and a regular drink. That comes to $12.79, so about twice the price as your In-N-Out for about the same amount of food.
Right, so if I go with my wife and 7-year-old, it comes to over $30 just for burgers, then we see a 3D movie and get popcorn/drinks/candy at the theater (biggest ripoff ever), I end up dropping over $100 on a casual Saturday afternoon. Doh! My policy is to only open my credit card bills in the evening, after a few whiskeys. It eases the shock.

Did you even read that article?
"The contradiction here among the survey results is almost impossible to reconcile — and points out how little importance we should place on them."
And this is from a Washington paper, close to the home of Five Guys.

In-and-Out was a regular stop on each trip to Vegas, now we have a handful here in Utah.

I'm so tired of the dudes on that website posting their own pics and then having their staff and friends digg the hell out of it.

OH WOW...I could never pay that much. Thankfully I live in CA where In-N-Out flourishes.
