I feel bad for the children. But their problems are the mistakes of their parents. The parents of these kids need to do be an example to their children and take the legal path.

Imagine now that a neighbors child comes over. He just walks in and makes him self at home. It would probably annoy you after a while.

Sure borders are artificial boundaries made to separate mankind but that's the point. Within the US border, the US has jurisdiction of that land. If someone illegally crosses our border the US has the legal right to deal with them as criminals.

Borders aren't bad though think of it like your own house. You have neighbors and they may you like or not, but you enjoy having your own house because you have say in that house. Get it?

confusing morality and religion is a common mistake. logic can define morality. not to say that religion cant teach morality too...but if you want to say that it is the only source let me remind you; many have died in holy wars trying to prove who's religious morals were superior.

I'm making an observation here... It's not just on illegal immigration... Every time I've differed with your opinion on the role of the government, I've been anti-government and you've been pro-government. How am I supposed to interpret that? I can't think of a time when you've ever been outspoken against the government where I disagreed and defended the government.

one would have to study science to realize that correlation does not necessarily equal causation.

just because many people follow christian morals in this country does not mean that all morals in this country are derived from christian teachings.

even if everyone in this country was strict christian of the same denomination it would not prove that the concept of morality is only derived from theology.

the ice cream metaphor doesn't make a concrete point either. example:

if i worship a god that says different acts/things are more important than your god... we disagree on which is the best flavor.

you can prove that there is a human concept of morality.

you can prove that there is a human concept(keyword) of god

you can not prove that all morality ultimately comes from god. that is opinion

It's still entertaining, seeing as how so many people like to slap "God" into every argument and claim it as a "win". Then others come along and spout something off similar to "fascist right-winger", fueling a flame war that is both highly entertaining and incredibly stupid. Just try to imagine Digg as a train wrecking into a Jerry Springer audience, and this is why I still come to Digg.

Here is where I will get burried into oblivion.

Morals and ethics go hand in hand, regardless of your religious beliefs. I am a registered Republican (since graduation of high school) who is also an atheist, I know that may blow some people's minds, but never once have my choices and actions ever been questioned due to my faith (or lack there of). Granted, I'm no "hardcore right-winger", as I see major problems with both the left and the right, both morally and ethically, I still believe in family values, hard work, support the "pro-life" agenda (unless there are special circumstances regarding an actual NEED for an abortion, be it incest, severe prenatal abnormalities/defects that would severely inhibit life for both the mother and the child, and cases of rape (as determined by a court)), against illegal immigration and anchor baby citizenship and assistance programs for illegal non-US citizens, pride in my country and her men and women in uniform, and numerous other topics. On the other hand, I do believe marriage should be an object of love, not a drum for religion. Why does everyone who claims to be religious care about how other people live their lives and their chosen lifestyles? Yes, I, a registered Republican, who supports gay marriage and military service (I'm surprised hardcore right wingers are opposed to sending gays off to war... odd if you ask me). Marry who you want, f**k who you want (with permission), live with who you want, and love who you want, it should not be in the interest of everyone else to tell you what is "acceptable". Also, science is obviously very important to me, including Darwinism/evolution, which is constantly cast aside by the extreme religious without any proof that "God" made everything, yet there is evidence and proof of evolution driving life on this planet. I'm still pissed about NASA's shuttle program being scrapped and no funding being given for a successor program, along with having to rely on the Russians and eventually private companies. The current government is too big, the tax code is too f**ked, and some NEEDED regulations in the marketplace are still sitting on the shelf in favor of UNNEEDED expensive, restrictive, and plain stupid set of regulations currently in action.

The above statements are an entirely separate, longer discussion better suited for a different environment, and thus, my statements are in complete. What we should be discussing is the article posted above, and how to A.) fix the problem B.) fix the ACLU's priorities of trying to give fair treatment to illegal and legal citizens alike (or get rid of the ACLU altogether, f**king nutjobs).

On topic:
Given the fact that if you are part of any law enforcement position, it is your duty to uphold and enforce the laws set forth by local/state/federal law makers. This includes reporting to ICE about illegal or suspected illegal immigrants in your jurisdiction that you actively interact with on a daily basis (in this case, schools). Failure to do so should be punishable to the full extent of the law, with heavy fines to your department/agency if proven guilty. Children of illegals are still illegals. /2cents

@leodin
Huh? They send their kids to our schools. That ALONE costs us a mint. In my area of NY state, we spend $20,000/ per student per year average.

An illegal family with only 3 children costs us, average $60,000/yr. MORE if any of them are any kind of special ed.

Are we talking legal immigrants or illegal ones?

The problem with illegal immigration is not with the individual; its systemic and corrosive effect on our society. Being an illegal immigrant inherently creates an exploitable class of human beings. An illegal cannot count on law enforcement to protect them from actual criminals, which aids crime, does not have redress when employers break laws (minimum wage, child labor laws, workplace safety standards, etc.), gives cover to foreign crime organizations, and as I like to put it, imports poverty, which means higher medical expenses, public school education expenses, etc. which must be carried by taxpayers, and not the 0.01% on the top.

The strength of this country comes from integration of LEGAL immigrants, who understand to some extent, they and their children will have to adapt to our ways; for example, not conduct honor killings because their "culture" or "God" demands it. This cannot happen without having a stake in this country and in their future here.

The sad thing is I understand the perspective of illegal immigrants who prefer living like slaves rather than worrying about staying alive in their own country. To them, living here illegally merely means seizing an opportunity. But who am I to deny Scarface his opportunity, if I'm not going to deny that "hard-working" illegal their opportunity?

The real tragedy is that illegal immigration exists because that is precisely what the rich and the amoral want. Cheap, exploitable labor. Illegal immigration is a fixable problem. Open the doors with work visas, increase citizenship quotas, financially destroy companies that hire illegal aliens, and deport those illegal aliens that cannot meet minimal standards for visas. It'll never happen because the rich make too much money off of illegal immigration to ever allow a solution to be passed in Congress.

After not visiting Digg for about a year I recently came back. The conservative/religious s**t was pretty bad before, but holy s**t. Second comment is some religion troll who turned an immigration issue into a religious morality issue.

Remember when Digg was about tech with a bit of entertainment sprinkled in? The comments were friendly and open-minded; not a bunch of, "you're a stupid liberal/conservative." Poor Digg.
