Just watched The Prestige again a few days ago, love that movie. It also makes the point that Edison was an assh**e. Also, Tesla is played by David Bowie, which is awesome.
Edison was pretty much an assh**e and a thief....long live the inventions and memories of Tesla. Here's to seeing that he gets his due respect this century!
To explain it simply for today's generation. Tesla was like Woz, he brought electricity to the world and pretty much invented every way we can interact with it-- just like Woz brought us personal computers, which lead to every portable computing device we have today. Along comes Edison who is not so good at inventing, but loves money and fame and his only good idea is to sell the other person's invention. Just like Jobs.
People, remember for every assh**e up there in the limelight telling the world how awesome they are because their company makes a popular product, there's an unsung hero who invented and instigated it who's being screwed over.
I so hope 10th July does end up as world science day...with Belgrade as the centre of such events. If you're ever visiting this city, go visit Nikola's museum.

They forgot to mention Tesla is STILL being ripped off, a 100 years later, both in design and in dreams, by MIT, who clearly are hard up for relevance, and continued funding.
Nikola Tesla invented binary code 1896 & decades later IBM tried to patent binary code & FAILED. Tesla's code was already in the public domain! HA-HA! Oh yeah, he also invented the "Logic Gate" the key component to CPU's/computers. He also invented radio, robotics, RC & teleforce, neon, florescent lighting. I could go on & on & on! he was the first to play with x-rays also. in 1900 he was warning us about the destructive nature of coal & oil & why it was wrong to consume animal meats. The guy was so mindbogglingly amazing it's almost beyond full comprehension.
