FPS are really simple. Sounds like you are like me. I prefer FPS on the PC because I'm partial to the KB+M setup. KB+M is a no-brainer for me. I don't find the console control intuitive at all. I have both the 360 and the PS3 and if I don't touch them for more than a couple days I have to relearn how to play with those damn controls.
The first Dragon age was pretty good. I played it on the PC. I tried it out on a friend's console and found the UI irritatingly clumsy. Dragon Age 2 was watered down and the UI on the PC was obviously made for use on the console. The same applies to Skyrim.
Technically you can buy game pads for PCs and a computer can be hooked up to all modern TVs at this point . (I know as I set it up as my third monitor for watching movies and playing game on every once in a while.)
There is really nothing that consoles can do that computers shouldn't be able to as well. Consoles are just dedicated gaming computers after all.
You forgot the first Crysis from 2007. That was a PC exclusive until around November 2011 and it was about as taxing as a game could get to the point where it overwhelmed the best GPU's money could buy at the time. Nowadays modern GPU's can easily run it with max settings and a very good framerate.
PC gaming is where it has basically always been, it's just that the industry is filled with f**king hypocrites that are trying to sell stock, so they go around being naysayers. Yes, there will always be an ebb and flow regarding the popularity of console vs PC, but PC will always be relevant, ALWAYS!
This article is right. PC gaming is King. Because ALL consoles are PCs. The Xbox 360, future Xbox (720?), the PS3, and Wii games are all developed on PC's. Remember when Microsoft got busted for running demo XBOX 360 games on PC? That means all console games and even cellphone games are truly PC ports... since they are developed on a PC first. PS3 arrays are being used for super computers. Xbox & PS3 are built with PC hardware and hacked with PC hardware. Therefore... PC's are the ONLY gaming system. Otherwise it's pen & paper, or board games. Ya dig?
But I love my console RPGs. I'm not a fan of TES, Dragon Age and things of that sort...they're huge and they're complex and all...but they feel really generically medieval. I like Lunar, Tales of series and things like that. I also can't get into MMORPGs.
FPSs are so much better with a mouse and keyboard. I can't even imagine playing with a controller. But you are right about RPGs and RTSs. IMO consoles are for platformers and sports games and PCs are for everything else. (Although anything can be played on a PC, I can hook up a controller to my PC, I cannot hook up a keyboard and mouse to a PS3 or Xbox) Keyboard and Mouse FTW
Consoles are primarily for those who want a milk toast gaming experience and generally want to kick back on a coach with a controller with a few buttons and two quarter inch joysticks.
In each and every case, if you take a top player in ANY FPS game using their console would be laughingly slaughtered by top player on a PC playing the same game.

Making a comeback? When was it in the dark ages?
earth2jackJan 24, 2012Buried
I'll take PC gaming any day!!!

The PC will be around for awhile.
There's a reason beefy v id cards are almost the size of a console/laptop alone.
There's just no contest.

Keyboard & mouse, foot long video cards, and modding.
It's the only way to go.

PC was never gone, its the only machine i keep coming back to

Outside of the US and Japan, PC gaming has been the number one platform. And has always been.

It's making a comeback because we are getting near the end of a console generation. When new consoles come out it will dip again.

Borderlands was developed specifically for the PC and then ported to XBox 360 and PS3.

Xbox 360 controllers work perfectly on a Windows PC. Many Windows games from the last 5 years detect a 360 controller and are pre-configured for them.
LongBJan 24, 2012Buried
Fairly sure you are incorrect. It's a PC game, that was ported to the console.
