fanboyism = religious beliefs = political beliefs
same principle, people don't want to be wrong when they've put so much time and energy in their beliefs.
I think Playstation fanboys are the most common, with 360s just behind. Given the casual gamer slant on the Wii console, you're pretty devoted if you're a Wii fanboy given all the hard core games you're giving up.
Fanboyism with anime/video games/movies/ comics etc. How is this any different then those idiots you see at football games with their faces painted, or the 6 guys in a row with their bellies painted so they spell out something. Fanboyism isn't secluded to "geeky" things, but to all things. How many guys have you known to almost cream their shorts when a dodge viper or lambourgini drives by.
In america 360 fanboys are much more numerous. Take for instance even sites like "Sony Defense Force" and those videos with the angry PS3 fan monologues are normally done by 360 fans. That SDF site was created by the owners of wii60.com (Rob Foor)
This has been the nature I have seen for quite some time that gives the impression that not only do 360 fans are more numerous, it also seems as if they have a stronger web presence and more time to waste.
I like to watch people interact with their iphones in public. Person A pulls out Iphone. Plays with it in a slightly exaggerated obvious way. Person B sees Person A. Person B instinctively pulls out Iphone in an obviously, "Hey, I got one too" sort of way. Person A and Person B never talk, never make eye contact, but both are thinking, "I wonder if the other person has seen my iphone yet so I can put it away?"
Is it too early to say that by all observation, I am not a fanboy over stuff? I've got an xbox 360 and a wii, I've recommended android and iphone devices to people (based on which carrier they're on), I myself have an iphone.
I've had both Intel and AMD processors, ATI and Nvidia graphics cards. I don't really care about sports teams, and I think it's weird when people do......
Perhaps I'm just the most uninteresting man on the planet :P

Some things you don't want to dig to deeply into. Fanboyism psychology probably falls into this.

This may shock you, but in the southern hemisphere (there are two hemispheres in the world, crazy I know), it is currently winter.

I'm curious what you define as freezing cold considering that the iPhone launched in June or July depending on where you live.

Tiny gray letters on a white background? Yeah, that looks awesome on a 24" monitor.

I does "look" good, but it shouldn't be used in a f**king article.
