Completely different. While I plan on getting CoD because I like the fast-paced action I can't help but appreciate the fine-looking game DICE put together....definitely going to rent it in the next weekend or two to try out.
As somone who really enjoyed (and still does) BF2 for it's moddable content, player created maps, and ability to put bots into them (if you wanted to play a 64 player map but only have 16 people), do I have it correct that BF3 has none of these?
If so it would seem that I will have to wait a while longer for a true successor that has all of the features that BF2 does.
I am not trying to 'diss' BF3, so for those of you who are excited about it Game On. I am simply saying that I am looking for a game to have the same features that Battlefield 2 does with 2010-2011 graphics, especially an SDK for the game so that fans can create mods and maps.
Unfortunately you will be waiting a long time. Companies are systematically eliminating the "modability" of games in order to better support their aftermarket DLC business while claiming it is about security and integrity etc... So, until the pendulum swings back around and these features become important again, the mappers and modders are effed but good.
Which is unfortunate, because many currently popular games have mod ancestry.
Some mods sell games better than the games by themselves. Some companies realize this, and then some just want to nickel and dime for content that you used to be able to get in a mod.
I'll never understand DLC for maps though. Why would you limit the player base? Sure, sell weapons and uniforms, but the second you prevent some people playing with others, you're doing it wrong. Call of Duty went that direction and ever since that day where it said I don't have the DLC and couldn't play, I haven't gone back.
The whole point of the game IS multiplayer! They have been totally up front about that from the start. If you somehow didn't get that, and wasted your $$$ then clearly you have a reading comprehension problem and should spend more time in school and less time playing games.
...oh wait, you probably won't understand what I'm saying here either and end up goin out and buying a snowblower to shampoo your carpets with...

Seriously, they need to get over it. But try to convince someone that their "team" isn't the best in the world...

If you want single player, go buy Skyrim.
