Why not? Ultimately it's about the games, not the platform. If there are games on the system you think you'd enjoy and you have the budget, then go ahead and buy one. Never let peer pressure influence your decisions.
Probably not. Then again I'm a Nintendo fan, and I'm not seeing much point to buying a 3DS. Between the consoles, laptop and Droid I just don't see a need for another device to game on currently.

If you can afford it, why not by another system? I don't see why people would try to remain loyal to one of the companies. Just get what you like.
