"you need to be logged in to log out. please log in to log out." doesn't throw anyone into a causal loop. it's obvious the person can't log out because they are already logged out. all they need to do is log in. that's all. no big deal. if, for example, you needed to log out to log in and log in to log out, then you might have a problem and this might actually be funny.
