So ETFs and auto-pays are out of the question? Man that's a pain in the ass to have to resign up every month for a service. So much for Netflix, Spotify, and all those other great services I use that are autopay.
That's it. From now on I'm buying visa prepaid cards at a bank with cash, and using those to buy things online. This is absurd. I'm so god damn sick of companies storing credit card information. It should be a FEDERAL f**kING LAW that if you take someone's credit card information, it only gets used in that session and never touches a database. Ever.
I'm resigned to the fact that no person, corporation or entity is untouchable -- everyone is going to get hacked sooner or later. I guess the least we can demand for personal data to be encrypted and for full disclosure/alerts when the infrastructure has been comprimised.

And then we invented computers and automatic bill pay. And the Internet.

People used to use a quill, get mumps, and have slaves what's your point?
Also checks are even easier to forge and offer less protection when stolen.

If they didn't store the security codes, than people won't be able to make false charges, though of course you should still change your card #.
Unfortunately, a lot of companies DO store the security codes, even though they are not supposed to.

Funny, people used to have to write this thing called a "Check" every single month to pay all of their bills.
