Face it. Most of these games have novelty value and little else. Most genuine ports would have been played for thrity seconds and forgoten, because they are unplayable. s**tty controls, tiny little screen.

Suck it fanboys. This goes for Android too.

I love Doom, but it's ass on the iPhone.

I know. Seriously, if Apple doesn't wake the f**k up and make a gamepad for the iPhone by time they release Game Center, I am going to so pissed. On screen joysticks are f**king stupid.

"The open marketplace means anyone can create a game"

The app store on iTunes is probably the most closed market place I can think of. Only iPhones can access it, you need iTunes in the first place and you would have to be an absolute iDiot to think any of that is in anyway open.

No, not monkey island. It's strictly a point and click game so its ok on an iphone.

I'm really happy that Monkey Island is being played again.

"The result is a new boom in innovation, the likes of which we haven’t seen in about 20 years."

There is a very simple reason for this. In many ways devices like the iPhone are like the old skool devices of 20 years ago, especially pre-PC (such as the C64 and Amiga). They have a stable known configuration which takes away so many complicating factors. You don't need to ask if it can run Crysis because you already know it can't.

If people can't be lazy and just rely on ever more powerful hardware then they have to think. Not quite to the degree of the 64K demo scene who deliberately impose limits on the system in order to push their own skills but nowhere like many modern applications where the software almost becomes irrelevant with the suggestion you need more powerful hardware (such as GFX cards) to make up for the intellectual shortfall.

I know this probably isn't allowed on the iphone store but the android system has an app that allows bluetooth connection to a wii controller (works awesome on NES/SNES emulators). Pretty fun to play 2 player Super Mario kart on my Droid. There might be an iPhone version if you look for it.

Here's a demo of it. http://wii.nintendolife.com/news/2010/05/wii_controller_app_for_android_goes_live

Also FYI the article says its a 3.99$ app, but there are alternatives for free on the android market.
