For the diversity section I only used theatrical US releases because I felt the majority of readers would be more interested in data for movies released in their country. Actually all of the data (unless noted) is based on US theatrical releases for that very reason.
Well, I think it all boils down to profit. Some movies may not be among the top grossing, but if they are cheap then they may be an interesting investment.
For instance, the first Resident Evil movie cost was around $32M, but it made over $100M worldwide. That may help explaining why they still do Resident Evil movies...
How is Japan the top video game movie makee and still there are more white character leads than Asian? Other than Japan, I'd assume only America is making video game movies really.
I am starting to get sick of "infographics" that are primarily text of varying sizes. No info is being communicated by any of these graphics. Quit misusing the word.
40% is good although it kind of sucks because a lot of them are large-breasted sex objects. Not exactly a big win for women. Also if you include Japanese-made movies I think the percentage would be even lower :(

We need more female lead characters in games.

It is?.

No Japan as in made and released in Japan.

Anyone else notice this chart lists "Silent Hill" as having been released 11 early?

Agreed though 40% is probably higher than the average number of female leads in non-video game action movies.

So maybe the movie was an accurate recreation then?

Uwe Boll deserves to rot in hell for all the bad things he's done to some amazing video game franchises.

Do they mean Japan as in Sony/Columbia pictures?.
dragomatzSep 9, 2010Buried
Have you seen the Dragonball movie. They got a white actor to play the lead roll.

The real question is why does Hollywood keep making them when they obviously aren't making any money?
Prince of Persia is #2 all time and it is considered a flop? That's just sad.

I for one thought that the Tomb Raider movies were full of qaulity
