We really need to take the MPAA down...One day I watched how copyright system contributed to get more money for big film companies...actually they make more from copyright than sales...and of course they are behind all the censorship projects targeting the Internet. Great article!

The head of the MPAA, Chris Dodd, recently threatened Congress that Hollywood would cut off money to them if they did not pass SOPA/PIPA. It either violates Congressional ethics rules, or could possibly be seen as bribery. Here is the whitehouse.gov petition asking for the current administration to address Mr. Dodd's highly unethical (and possibly illegal) comments.

The MPAA should die. That's just unconscious knowledge.

The movie "This Film Is Not Yet Rated" is about the weird and unfair system the MPAA uses to rate films. It is a good watch if you are curious about how the system works.

I say we hit them where it hurts, in the pocketbook. I haven't paid to see a movie in years and I plan on keeping it that way. Check up on your local representatives too. If your states politicians supported SOPA, ACTA or PIPA at anytime then campaign against them and get the word out. We have to send a strong message that we will not tolerate this kind of treatment. I'm not one to say throw the bums out often but THROW THE BUMS OUT! Let them know if you f**k with the internet we will take your political career.

"What we can do is not much, but sometimes your only course of action is the right course of action. Recently, a Texas man named Michael L. started a White House petition to have Dodd investigated for his comments on Fox News regarding political candidates not looking for their large donation checks if they weren’t going to help the entertainment industry on SOPA. It currently has over 31,000 signatures on it with more still coming in."

That's almost one signature for every dollar the MPAA has spent on lobbying in the last two years.

How to defeat a Hydra:

1. Protect yourself from it's poisonous breath
2. Shoot flaming arrows into it's nest and brace for the attack
3. Start cutting off heads
4. Get someone else to cauterize the open stumps every time you remove a head. Alternatively, you may use the creatures own venomous blood to cauterize the stump.
5. Ignore/Easily defeat distractions tossed at you by other gods
6. After all the mortal heads have been removed and their stumps cauterized, borrow a magic sword from a god and remove it's remaining immortal head

I'm not sure how any of this applies to killing the MPAA, but it's a better suggestion than signing a petition for the government to investigate an organization that's been bribing them for years. Not that you shouldn't do that as well.

The White House already denied that petition. The reason being, is the petition is too 'specific' in the charge of what the White House should do. The WH basically said, we cannot comment or do anything with this petition because everyone wants something specific done to one organization.

I think we need to re do the petition. As in Tell the WH to Investigate (or look into) the lobbying methods of Entertainment Businesses paying Congress. IF/When the Entertainment Businesses come through with their threat of defunding those they represent, then a full investigation should be next.

Yes, Because Hollywood Bought Politicians to Represent them. If they stop buying those politicians, then a investigation should be started in the actions of those Politicians who took money, and voted accordingly.

I signed the previous petition and got the email stating why they denied the request. This petition follows the 'terms' set by whitehouse.gov and will not be rejected. You propose asking them to look into or investigate, which is exactly why they denied the first request.

If you want a formal response from the White House then you need to understand the rules and follow them, which is what this new petition has accomplished.

Unfortunately as long as the two-tier Golden Rule system is in effect here in the USA, the only hope we have to reform or remove the MPAA is a lucky meteorite strike.
