The whole thing made me nostalgic ... and kinda sad. She was obviously trying to re-capture something whose time has come and gone. It was like watching Mike Tyson well past his prime and remembering how he used to be. Some memories are best left alone.
Her songs were always bad and still are. The new song, where she tries to act cool, young and hip even though she's 53, was awful. The stupid dancing and awful lip synching did not help.
Does the NFL not know its own fans? Why did they think the overwhelmingly male fan base would want to see Madonna? The halftime show was disliked by everyone who watched at the party I went to, with the exception of MIA flipping off the camera.
We all know why people watched it. Would they have tuned in to watch it if it was a standalone show later that evening?
It was nothing but a filler for a captive audience waiting for more gladiator football. Instead they had women and gay men running around in costumes faking singing. That is entertaining? According to some comments above, I guess it is . . .

No. She put on a tired old version of one of her music videos, and she lip-synched the whole thing. I see now that I did not miss a thing.

Maybe not the "greatest show on earth" -- that's Ringling Bros' territory -- but at 53, she looked pretty great.
martoqFeb 6, 2012Buried
I am just surprised she didn't break a hip.
jerroldsFeb 6, 2012Buried
She lip sync'ed the whole thing, so no. At least Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas didnt fake it.

Do people know what music is any more?
theonewhoknowsFeb 6, 2012Buried
No she didn't. Ringling Brothers and barnum and Bailey did.

Super Bowl 2012: Did Madonna put on the greatest show on earth? - Yea, if you're gay.

She moved like a 50-year-old, but otherwise looked great.

This is not news. this should be buried so far down. I feel ashamed even commenting on it.

WTF was with her trying to look like Ming the Merciless from the 1980s "Flash Gordon"?
partrowFeb 6, 2012Buried
Yes, she did start off poor, in Bay City, MI.
sephickFeb 6, 2012Buried
Compared to last year, yes.
The greatest show on earth? Far from.
jerroldsFeb 6, 2012Buried
No one said she had to dance. You don't see Adele or Taylor Swift dancing around - it can still be a show if she were to, you know - be a singer.
All the extravagances of her show was pretty I suppose, but could not distract me from her lip syncing.

The effeminate male dancers in the first set were a comical sight for a football game.

A much better half time than I've seen in a long time but why does the NFL ALWASYS use has-beens?
number23Feb 6, 2012Buried
Putting on the best half time show is a VERY low hurtle, but I greatly enjoyed it.
