Twitter is more than status replies. You can think of it as an open outlet to broadcast anything to the rest of the internet.
I do follow a handful of celebrities, but i use it more to follow up to date news my favorite blogs, magazines, news networks, and even independent game developers and musicians, and people in the design field. Its also interesting to see the conversations they have between each other as well as trends that happen across twitter when major events happen.
I used to think twitter was nothing but stupid status updated until i caved.

I actually thought most of those were pretty funny. Or at least, as funny as tweets ever are, which is to say: not very much.
Still, he does a better job at it than most people. The facebook car crash line was pretty good.

Is Twitter just for reading what self-absorbed celebrities have to say? I can't really find any other use for it. All my friends are on Facebook.
