I hope the studios enjoyed their huge profit margins on DVD while they lasted. During the transition from VHS to DVD I was annoyed that DVDs cost more than VHS when I knew they were much cheaper to produce. Still, I repurchased movies on DVD for the superior picture quality and the bonus features.
Lately though there haven't been many movies I've WANTED to buy, it's mostly garbage being shoveled out these days. I'm not going to buy a movie that I probably won't like, and Hollywood should be happy I'm even willing to rent them. Keep pushing people around though and more and more people will check out torrents and all those sketchy streaming websites.
Sometimes when I'm buying gas or whatnot at 7-11, they'll be a crowd at the the Blockbuster/Netflix standalone box outside. Sometimes even in rain or the cold.
I was shocked. I was sure those things were the sign of another sizable upcoming bankruptcy you and I would foot the bill on. But there the people are, week after week.
So I quickly checked one out when it was available. (It was really cold, so I guess people have a limit. I don't, but I'm nuts.) There may have been BluRays, but all I saw was DVDs. (Granted, I didn't stay all that long.)
As a previous biz owner I wondered on the potential $$$ one could make off that kind of setup. And the headaches and problems.
I mean, images of "smash & grab" immediately entered my head. Especially of the guy who blasted a whole Apple store, was only able to pick up a monitor or so, while sending much more expensive Mac Pros and whatnot smashing to the floor.
But I haven't heard of that with this venture.
Plus there's the hassle of people trashing the DVDs and/or just not turning them in at all.
But, again, there they sit. For the most part with customers. Like some big Phallic symbol saying: "FU Scabnabbit. That's why you're a 99%er. You don't know s**t."
Maybe someone will catch & tell me about a good movie I missed.
Time Warner clearly doesn't know how to evolve and is just trying to forceful tactics but will eventually fail. When they finally see the light I hope it will be too late.
as long as you rent, buy DVD's,pay for premium channels, and pay that monthly bill.no need for Time Warner to evolve. streaming video is the future and i don't mind paying 8 bucks a month.only a fool would pay for cable
I'm not suprised, consumers are concerned about funds and quality. Honestly, would you rather rent a movie and then find out it was terrible or by it and be stuck with it. Also, unless your building a DVD collection, people aren't watching the same DVD often. Rather than clutter their home this mass amounts of DVDs they watch in online or rent it for a day or too. In a nut shell, Hollywood should be concerned.

Every year, Hollywood releases more than a dozen romantic films. But honestly, more than half of them are copied and unsurprising. Hence If you want to see some of the best romantic movies ever produced this Valentines day, you will require a trustworthy list of top romantic movies Hollywood has ever produced. This is such a long Valentines day movies list. http://digg.com/news/entertainment/my_rainbow_dreams
