Come on. Jeff Goldblum's string of brilliant nerd characters started with his role as a gun-toting, brain surgeon sidekick in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai.
Strongly disagree with Samuel L. Jackson on that list. Sure, he had plenty of "M.F.'er" opportunities in his career, but films like Unbreakable, The Caveman's Valentine, No Good Deed, Black Snake Moan, and The Spirit (I know, I know...) reflect a lot of range and intensity.
Morgan Freeman is very talented, but I don't think he much likes taking direction and is happy staying in his comfort zone most of the time.
Bruce Willis is a better actor than he gets credit for, but he seems happy going where the paychecks are.
And Will Smith, in my opinion. Even the section on him mentions his range, so I think it's stupid that he's even on this list just because he's best known for Fresh Prince.
I know people s**t on Keanu Reeves, but how is he in any way always playing the same character?
Bill and Ted's Excellent (and Bogus) adventure
The Matrix
Speed
Sweet November
Hardball
The Lake House
Constantine
The Devil's Advocate
A Walk in the Clouds
Those are all drastically different roles. How the hell is he Neo in every movie? Then putting WILL SMITH in there? Really?
"Rob Shneider was an animal. Then he was a woman. And now Rob Schneider is... a stapler. And he's about to find out, that being a stapler is harder than it looks. Rob Schneider is... The Stapler. Rated PG-13"

The term is character actor. They have been around since the beginning of Hollywood.

Jackson, Freeman, and Willis are some of the best actors in this day and age and each are very versatile in my opinion.

He's always a detective, even when he isn't Munch. And then there was Inspector Henderson on "Lois & Clark".

I'm surprised that James Woods wasn't on the list.
Has he EVER been in a movie where he didn't play a fast-talking, macho, Type-A personality with a hair-trigger temper?
I enjoy watching him in movies; he's really good at playing that character. I've just never seen him play anything else.

No Steven Segal? Or he doesn't count as an actor?

I'm surprised to see Shatner so at number 1. And Michael Cera so far down. I know he's young, but he's got to be the most annoying of these.
