Super PACs should be outlawed and the people who support them and influence politics should be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent for manipulation the US government.
Why is it even legal to call "bribery and additional power for the wealthy" something COMPLETELY different like "citizens united"? Isn't that false advertising and making a false claim?

which part of that comment said that? i must have missed that part.
but dont let that stop your typical partisan rant and projection! it is the only thing you do here after all
Are you for real? We're talking about corporations. AKA General Electric, ConocoPhillips, AT&T Inc, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Comcast Corp, United Technologies, Verizon Communications, Boeing Co, Royal Dutch Shell, Lockheed Martin, Pfizer Inc, FedEx Corp.
I don't know about anyone else here, but I've got nothing personal against these corporations (well, maybe a few), but hell, I have an AT&T phone, take Pfizer medication, use FedEx, and watch NBC.
Nevertheless, CORPORATIONS ARE NOT PEOPLE!!! PERIOD!
They do NOT have the same rights that I have! It's that simple.
What are you talking about? "Corporate free speech?" Seriously?
People making up those corporations, including workers, investors, etc, can speak well enough for themselves.
Taking another tact, the US did just fine without this law in place. You would do well to acquaint yourself on why this was the case vs trying to defend a law that you obviously haven't researched.
except under the current definition of the law, they do. Is that right, I am uncertain. But if a corporation is found to be seriously be breaking the law, then they should be able to be dissolved (executed) just like a person. All of their assets evenly divided up among the people affected. Instead of a slap on the wrist, could you imagine the response the mining industry would have had if Massey Energy would have be dissolved instead. If corporation want the rights of people, then they need to have the same consequences that people can have for improper action.
Well when 2 of the Supreme Court justices spend a week end at an all expense paid Koch Bother retreat in Palm Springs a few weeks before the vote. Go figure huh?
Someone should win the election without any PAC ads. No money for marketing ads..
this will show that it can happen and the first thing that PRESIDENT should do when elected is to Appeal SUPER PAC. .
all we hear is dirt talk and no substance when these people are running for office this caliber in time...
We should know more on what they are going to do with the economy, what plan, strategies and looking forward mentality attitudes, but no, we must hear about the Ex-wifes when we know 50%+ divorced rate??? the religion beliefs, success jealousy stuff...no substance. No term-changing strategies.
The mainstream MEDIA don't know how to make NEWS anymore...they have gotten corporate. NEWS is what we make of it.
Good POSITIVE OUTLOOK is for me...:)
Bad News doesn't need to get beaten to death. KNOW when to STOP.
Focus on what are you going to do for small businesses who are truly suffering when they can't acquire necessary working capital, lacking cash flow and inventory funding. What happened to the lost and almost forgotten industries in a lot of small cities that aren't being talked about.
The actual case of businesses who lost houses, everything, can't afford to send their kids to college, had to start over again because they had building loan and personal mortgage loans for their own business and personal home. Plus the expenses of running a business. Balancing it all is too much to imagine. Business suppose to encourage steady source of income. some don't need to becomes millionaires. They are just happy with steady income.
WE have to deal with the reality. So what happens? Close shop and retire. Sell the business open up new opportunity for the next entrepreneur. Hopefully it succeeds and create jobs. The economic cycle of business...right!
I was a home depot today. I needed electrical tester. I wanted badly to buy an American product, to a point in price depending on how often i need it for. Found the section and grab the cheapest one. Look on the back and found out to be from China, so we put it back up. The second one was also made in China but the price is about 50% less than the first one. then the third the most expensive also Chinese. All American Based Companies but the product Manufactured in China.
SO ultimately, i went w/ the cheapest product. MADE IN CHINA by an American company? all other OPTIONS - None?
Sorry went all out on this....my first real blog, unsure if its' even a blog or comment or what no...but i happen to be on this page when i thought of all this...peace.
While we are at on the subject, I also have to wonder how we went from prosperity and things are kind of smooth and crime is going down, to OMG let's sniff everyone's shoes, spy on them, and torture is OK as long as it's a contractor doing it. Really?
Well, I don't really wonder, but it's a way to start an exposition.
There are mercenaries now when we used to have soldiers, for the lack of accountability, they get ten times the pay -- why did we replace the soldiers -- Oh yeah, because someone doesn't like the accountability, and that bastard needs to get rich for the privilege of screwing us over, or maybe Eric Prince was ass buddies with the right people.
It's like you wake up one day, and the coliseum is open for business, and someone has a wagon that chops off people's heads while a lady sings opera. You would be amazed at the spectacle, if you weren't so shocked that everyone acted like this is normal. The girl who dumped you in high school is selling popcorn.
Police have tanks and drones now -- WTF? Is the shoplifting getting too earnest?
We've got a full scale reaction to something Osama allegedly did, while we pay Fossil Fuel companies to do damage on a larger scale. Dirty energy kills a lot of people, right? 100,000 die from medication. We killed even more in a country we shouldn't have invaded in the first place, but we stay until the oil companies get their cut. The response to the incident is out of proportion with the threat. More people are going to die because Wall Street needs to make more money than all the terrorist acts in the world -- which are probably blowback for something Wall Street had to do to get richer.
Outlawing Super Pacs woudln't be enough -- you'd have to get the Law to be enforced, and in the 21st century, that doesn't happen if you make above a certain pay grade.
I am all for dropping all dollars as long as it does not exclude anyone, i.e. unions. No exceptions. If business money goes then union money goes too. No special interests at all, its the only fair way, which is why I need to take a closer look at this bill.
If there are exceptions to help either party get money then it's a bad bill.
Yes under the current law (Citizens United) they do. That was my point. However, I would never equate executing a human person with dissolving a corporation. Sorry, that just doesn't fly with me. A corporation can always regroup even if it's under a new name and a new EIN and no one actually dies. Death is final. No resurrection. Not even as a zombie.
And as far as Mass Energy goes, they got away with their lax oversight and criminal behavior because of lack of enforcement of regulations by the local and national government. It had nothing to do with their lack of being defined as a "person".
In fact, since corporations have been designated as people, not one has had to face the same consequences regular people face.

How is this s**te even legal?
Super PACs should be outlawed and the people who support them and influence politics should be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent for manipulation the US government.
Of course this will never happen.

At issue is the secrecy.
With Citizens, the corporations don’t have to tell us - or their shareholders - when they fund political campaigns with the corporation's money.
We need to know who's billions of dollars are influencing our American elections.
Without this knowledge, we won't know who - or what - is running our country. And this holds true for corporations, OWS - or the local flower club.
