Prison rape is only a problem because the powers that be allow it to happen. Prison is a place where people are supposed to be under direct supervision at all times. Yet we would rather lock up non-violent offenders alongside hardened criminals to the point where prisons are filled beyond capacity, and beyond the ability to adequately supervise them all. Prison rape could be virtually ended if we as a society had the will to make it happen. Yet we act as if the risk of being raped is somehow part of the prison sentence which is just barbaric.
Show 1 ReplyIf your in prison, I think the more scary issue is just trying to survive. Their is the prisoner code and the jail code, 2 totaly different things.
Being in prison you have to live not only under the rules of the penitentiary but the gangs that actually control the gen-pop you are at the mercy of.
It's simple, dont wanna get raped or stabbed your first day? All you have to do is defend your milk and cookies, or w/e another innmate tries to take from you with your life.
